Wishing everyone a scary and Happy Halloween!

In honor of Halloween, Brendan and I will be watching one of the scariest movies of all time…

Some of my other favorite scary movies, The Shining, Alien, The Ring, and Halloween.

I thought I’d also share a family ghost story with you…

My dad has two sisters and a brother and when they were all little their Grandma Jesse was in the hospital. One of my Dad’s sisters woke up in the middle of the night to find Grandma Jesse sitting at the end of the bed. She went back to sleep and when they woke up the next morning they discovered that Grandma Jesse had passed away right around the time she was sitting at the end of the bed!

Cindy and Robert got married at the Church of the Good Shepherd right in downtown Nashua. What a gorgeous church!! The only real bummer were the restrictions they place on photographers. No flash photography, which is actually how I work anyway, so that wasn’t a problem, but I was not allowed to move past a certain point in the church. I’m always very respectful of the marriage ceremony and in a church I’m even more aware of not being obtrusive where there may not be a lot of room to move around, unlike an outdoor ceremony. Even with the restrictions though, I got some amazing pictures…it helps to have the right equipment:)

Joey from A Main Event did a great job getting everyone on the dance floor at the King’s Court. He had a great idea which I just loved. Most guests have disposable cameras on the tables, so he assigned one person from each table to be the paparazzi and every time he said “photo op” they had to run up to Cindy and Rob and be the most obnoxious photographer they could be. It was hilarious and I got some great pictures from that.

Big thanks to Ron & Diane who referred me to them, I shot their wedding in October 2005.

Congratulations Cindy & Rob! Have a great honeymoon!

Cathy and Alan are such an awesome couple and have been through so much and stood by each other through it all. Cathy is a breast cancer survivor and was diagnosed shortly after Alan proposed to her. Alan was diagnosed with diabetes and he has been working hard losing weight…he looks amazing since the last time I saw him. Cathy was also the winner of my Boudoir contest and Alan LOVED the pictures:) Now on to their wedding….they got married at the Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. What a beautiful setting for a wedding and the staff there was wonderful, attentive to every detail.

Big thanks to Kelly for introducing me to Cathy. I photographed Kelly and Matt’s wedding this past June and Kelly was one of Cathy’s bridesmaids. I saw lots of familiar faces from their wedding. Melissa was also a bridesmaid and I photographed her boudoir session, and got to meet her husband Zack, who absolutely LOVED the pictures. Melissa has a lost a lot of weight and I barely recognized her, she looks amazing! It was so great to see everyone!!

Congratulations Cathy & Alan! Have a great honeymoon!!

To be honest, I really don’t like the term “Trash your Dress” because you’re not really ruining your dress…dry cleaners can do amazing things! A lot of photographers have come up with different names for these sessions and an awesome photographer Joseph Keum uses the term “Love the Dress”, so I’m going to call them “Love Your Dress” sessions. You only get to wear your dress once and your wedding day goes by so fast and there really isn’t a lot of time to get fun pictures in your dress…wouldn’t it be awesome to get all dressed up again and go to a cool location and get amazing images!

Mary was the winner of my free session (and I photographed her wedding in August) I had so much fun!! Mary was really adventurous and willing to go to the extreme to get some amazing pictures. We went to Fort Foster in Kittery, Maine. It was a gorgeous day, thankfully…the day before it just poured here. Surprisingly the water wasn’t too cold and I ended up going in as well, although not as far as Mary:)

Carrie and Dave got married at the Westford Regency Inn, my second wedding there this year. Carrie was the most gorgeous bride, but a very emotional bride….she cried at the salon, walking down the aisle, dancing with her dad. She and her bridesmaids were so funny too, they had me laughing so hard I was crying! It was a perfect day for a wedding and they had a beautiful ceremony and then everyone had a great time at the reception thanks to their DJ, Russ from A Good Time DJ. On a side note, Carrie is the cousin of one of my former brides, Kelly, who married Chad last year. It was so great to see them and a lot of the other familiar faces at the wedding!

A little background…As many of you know, just a little over a year ago Brendan and I moved from Nashua, New Hampshire to Bangor, Maine. When we lived in Nashua I had a part time job at the Gleason Public Library which I absolutely loved! All my co-workers were wonderful and I had the best boss, Angela:) That was the biggest bummer about moving, was I had to leave the library. Before we moved, Angela was pregnant with Xavier and for a baby shower gift the staff gave her a gift certificate for a portrait session with me. So last weekend I spent some time with Angela, Cedric and Xavier. Xavier is so cute and definitely hard to keep up with…you should see how fast he crawls! Afterwards Angela invited everyone from the library over and it was so great to see everyone and catch up! I miss you all!

Cathleen and Woody are the most amazing couple and I was so honored to be invited into their lives to photograph their wedding day! They both went to Dartmouth together but didn’t really know each other then, although they did have one class together, Astronomy 101. But as Cathleen so eloquently stated, the stars weren’t aligned for them until many years later. They both travel the world, although it seems they are always going in different directions! What an amazing love and bond they must have for each other! Cathleen and Woody got married at the Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa in Whitefield, New Hampshire and WOW what amazing views of the White Mountains! They had the most beautiful ceremony which they designed themselves, overlooking the mountains. Chantall at the Mountain View did an amazing job for them and she was just wonderful to work with, actually, the entire staff there were just so accommodating and helpful. Everyone danced the night away to the Latin and jazz music of the band Gusano. Congratulations Cathleen and Woody! Have a great honeymoon in Zanzibar, which sounds so exotic!

What a perfect fall day for a wedding! I drove down the Maine coast to meet Jasmin in Rockland, and it was the most amazing day! When I arrived Jasmin and her bridesmaids were still working on the place settings at the Rockland Elks Lodge, so I was a little worried about the timing, and so was her Dad who kept looking at his watch while they were getting ready. But it always pays to pad the schedule, because even though they were running late, I think the ceremony only started about 5 minutes late:) There was a minor mishap after the ceremony at the Rockland Congregational Church during the receiving line, when Jasmin stepped in an ant hill and got attacked by ants. She actually had to take her dress off and the ants had to be picked out by hand. Her Dad was ready to vacuum the ants out, but I’m not sure her beautiful dress would have survived the vacuum cleaner! After that everyone danced the night away and had an amazing time! Congratulations!!

Wedding - Bristol Federated Church
Reception - Italian Farmhouse

Best friends…Darcy and Tim! And what an amazing love they have for each other. Darcy is the tiniest little thing but has the most amazing amount of energy, she was just bursting with it when I arrived. She was also a little out of sorts and just didn’t know what to do with herself since she couldn’t talk to or see her best friend, which I thought was so cute:) Darcy and Tim got married at the Bristol Federated Church in Bristol, New Hampshire and then celebrated with their friends and family at the Italian Farmhouse in Plymouth, New Hampshire. The farmhouse has a greenhouse that they use for functions and it was so beautiful! Congratulations Darcy and Tim!
