Yesterday Cindy (a wedding photographer friend) and I had a great time wandering around Boston taking pictures. It was a hot and muggy day but at least it was overcast which was great for lighting. I took the commuter train in from Lowell and almost missed my train, running through the parking lot, I was the last person to get on the train and as soon as I got on, the train left the station. I was so glad I made it otherwise I would have had to wait an hour for the next train. We had agreed to meet outside the Boston Public Library and since I was there early I spent some time wandering around the library taking pictures of the beautifully restored older section. They have a really nice cafe and a wonderful courtyard where we had lunch.

The Old South Church is right across from the library which has beautiful stained glass windows. A visit to the Public Gardens was also in order. We managed to get a quick glimpse of the the swans eggs before she sat on her nest. If you are near the Public Gardens in the next few weeks, make sure to see if the eggs have hatched.

Since I didn’t miss my train in the morning, of course I had to miss it in the afternoon. I left in plenty of time to get to North Station if the “T” managed to operate on time. The train I took stopped at Government Station so I had to get off and wait for the next train. Many passengers waited and waited while numerous empty “out of service” trains drove by. If I hadn’t had to wait 10 minutes at Government Station I would have made my train, but then I probably would not have gotten this cool shot at North Station.

Desiree & Justin got married at the Belfast Boathouse overlooking Belfast Harbor in Maine. The weather in New England at the end of week had been muggy and rainy and the forecast was for showers all day on Saturday. Rain on your wedding day is supposed to be good luck, but with an outdoor wedding at such a beautiful location we would have missed out on these great photo opportunities. Luckily Mother Nature was looking out for Desiree & Justin and although the sky remained overcast the rain stopped and the sun even made a short appearance:)

Before I became a wedding photographer I was a high school librarian and Desiree was a former student. I was so excited when she contacted me about photographing her wedding. She was a stunning bride and through her tears of joy she absolutely glowed happiness:) Photographing her wedding was very special for me. Congratulations Desiree and Justin!

Maui Sunset

Haipuena Falls on the Road to Hana

Brendan and I love to travel and I thought it would be fun to share some of my pictures from our adventures. Last summer we went to Hawaii and visited Oahu, The Big Island and Maui. Maui was by far my favorite island. Each island has its own unique character; Oahu is the touristy, commercial island; The Big Island seemed very down to earth and laid back; while Maui was an upscale version of The Big Island.

From time to time I will post images from our trips. Please feel free to download them and use them as your desktop image:) You can do this by clicking on the image to get the full size image sized for a screen resolution of 1024 x 768.

Modern Bride Boston will soon by Brides Boston! Conde Nast Publications has completely redesigned their Modern Bride magazines to be more in line with the redesign of their website brides.com. Because of this redesign they are no longer offering the size ad that I purchased for this season, so they upgraded me to a 1/2 page ad!!! and I got to resubmit a whole new design!!! Although this news caught me off guard it as a great opportunity, especially since I was not that happy with my first ad design.

I just love this image!! It is one of my favorites from Cortney and John’s wedding. They were standing in front of me at the reception speaking with guests and I noticed them holding hands behind her back…an intimate and secret moment between the two of them.

Despite the rainy weather Cindi & Jarrod had a beautiful wedding at the High Street Congregational Church in Newport, Maine. Leaving the ceremony in a fire truck with the lights flashing and the siren announcing their arrival at the reception was a first for me and I’m glad the rain cleared so I was able to get some pictures of them on the fire truck:) Congratulations Cindi & Jarrod!

Since I have several weddings coming up I have been meeting with the couples and finalizing all the details. I always recommend that we meet at their wedding location. I love to visit the ceremony and reception sites because it allows me to start thinking about the images I want to capture of the day.

Desiree and Justin will be getting married at the Boathouse in Belfast Harbor so I recently spent some time wandering around the city and harbor before we met to discuss their wedding day. I had never been to Belfast before and it is worth a visit if you are in the area. The harbor is beautiful with some great restaurants overlooking the bay and the downtown area has historic buildings with cute, unique stores to browse. They have picked a gorgeous location for their celebration and I hope they have great weather.

I only photograph one wedding each weekend, allowing me to totally focus on your wedding day. Since I do not have another wedding I can attend your rehearsal and take notes on your ceremony and scout out where to get the best pictures so that I can get the images that capture the story of your day. This also allows me to get to your wedding early if it is a far distance from Nashua. If your planning a winter wedding and worried about inclement New England winter weather, no problem, with a four wheel drive vehicle, I’m there! And if a storm is forecasted, I will leave prior to the storm to ensure that I arrive for your wedding. This is at no additional cost to you! Photographing one wedding per weekend allows me to provide a level of customer service that I think is important for a day that you want to be perfect!
